Success Story Manchester Innovation Award 2009

In the Middle East, the Manchester Innovation Award was launched in 2009 and specifically tailored to attract and encourage Emirati innovators in the UAE.

The Inaugural Manchester Innovation Award for Emiratis was launched in coordination with Khalifa FundĀ  for Enterprise Development and with sponsorship of Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council in May 2009, with close to 100 Emiratis registering their initial interest and then 50 submitting their business proposals.

 

From these submissions, seven finalists were selected and the winner Mohamed Al Hajiri, an Emirati Civil Engineer and entrepreneur, announced at an Award ceremony Gala Dinner in November 2009.

The winner benefited from an all Expenses paid study tour to Manchester Business School Campus in the UK, a cash prize and a trophy. The winner also received the ongoing support in the development of the winning business innovation. Mohamed Al Hajri was able to meet with the professors from theĀ  Manchester Enterprise Centre to review and develop the business plan.
