The purpose of the #Creativity & Innovation in the GCC Research is to produce powerful, practical research to understand the drivers and barriers to creativity and innovation in the unique context of the GCC.

No other region in the world has a great a need to benefit from increased creativity and innovation - and perhaps no other region has a much to lose if they do not get it right. Creativity and innovation are the key to a prosperous future for all countries of the GCC.

That is why we are conducting this research about the region, for the region, working in partnership with people from the region.

Manchester is recognized for its original thinkers: our long and proud history of research excellence continues the spirit of innovation and achievement for which the city is renowned. The School was one of the first two business schools in the UK (both founded in 1965). MBS is ranked first in the UK for business research, but world-class research alone not enough. Our original thinking is applied for impact across business and management, government and communities. We provide world-class business and management education to undergraduates, postgraduates, experienced practitioners, and those with career orientated academic and research ambitions. Background to #Creativity & Innovation in the GCC Research Programme:

Dr Mark Batey, a world-leading researcher of creativity and innovation and Principle Investigator for this research programme, conducted focus group interviews with public and private sector leaders in every country of the GCC.

In each focus group, the leaders discussed 5 key areas:
1. What does creativity and innovation mean?
2. What is the unique context for working in your country?
3. What are the natural strengths that will encourage creativity and innovation?
4. What might be the barriers to creativity and innovation?
5. What can we do to encourage more creativity and innovation?

The insights and wisdom provided by the leaders has been used to design the survey which can be completed in Arabic or English.

Dr Mark Batey is a highly published researcher in creativity, but with executive education and consulting experience across industries and geography.

Mark is Head of Global Open Programmes at Manchester Business School and the Academic Lead for the Manchester Leadership Programme, the University of Manchester's premier leadership training programme.
